The Lyons/Summers Memorial Ride was held on the 2nd Saturday in July this year, as it lands every year.... on the 2nd Saturday of July.  Mark that date on your calendar folks.  This ride started in 2001 and has grown to include 4 men, all of whom have lost their lives over the years.  Helen Lyons, Christina Lose, and Susan PFirsching, along with many other volunteers, work dilligently every year to put on this Memorial Ride to raise funds for The Second Mile Foundation, dedicated in memory of all these great guys.  The ride boasts delicious, home-made entrees and desserts that is sure to leave everyone going back for more as well as a mountain of door prizes donated from businesses both near and far!

For me, this ride holds a very special place in my heart.  I am fortunate enough to have known 3 of these men.  Having grown up just two houses away from Jake Lyons Sr. and his family, I spent the vast majority of my adolescent life running around with the Lyons crew.  I remember when Paul and Bill would come to visit.  I certainly remember some of the....., well let’s just say adventures we got in to!  As for Jake, words can’t describe what a great, great guy he was.  Always quick with a joke, the flash of his smile, or a pat on the back… he will be sorely missed.  All proceeds going to support The Second Mile Foundation, I can’t think of a better way to honor the memory of these men.
